Phyllis Moses, President of the Hill Country Book Festival, Inc., has had a varied business and volunteer experience. After 30 years in the business world, her interests led her to be the Executive Director of the Dallas office of the National Kidney Foundation, for several years. Since then, she has become an active published author with many articles on aviation and aviation history. See www.wingsandstars.com.
Since moving to Georgetown, she has become interested in helping to produce quality book festivals in Central Texas. She lives with her husband, Brian, in Sun City and is deeply involved in the community they have come to love so much. Phyllis says, “My life is full of blessings, one of which is to work with the incredible volunteer board of HCBF in bringing quality writers and presenters to Georgetown for our festival to benefit the residents of this area.”
Roger Busfield received his BA and MA degrees from Southwestern University as well as a Ph.D from Florida State University. He taught dramatic writing for six years at Michigan State University as well as at Florida State. He is the author of The Playwright’s Art: Stage, Screen, Radio and Television. As well, Roger served at president of San Gabriel Writers’ League for two terms.
Addie Busfield is an artist, writer, editor and illustrator. She is a graduate of Southwestern and has been active in SGWL, serving as program director for two years.
Karen Swensson, treasurer of the Hill Country Book Festival, Inc., has eighteen years' experience as an administrative manager in both the securities and consulting industries. Her previous experience includes radio, television and print advertising. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and an MBA from the University of Chicago. A Midwesterner by birth, Karen has also lived in the western and eastern United States, Germany, and Zaire.
Two of her short stories have been published in anthologies. She is a member of the San Gabriel Writers' League and the Writers' League of Texas, and has lived in the Georgetown area since 2006.
Ann Bell, vice-president of the Hill Country Book Festival, Inc., moved to Georgetown, Texas in 2007. She grew up in Iowa and received her B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa, a Library Media Endorsement from the University of Montana, and a Master of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of Hawaii. She has served 20 years as a high school librarian in Iowa, Montana, and Guam and is currently an online instructor and course developer for the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Ann has published 11 inspirational novels through Heartsong Present and Barbour Press. Eight of these have been reprinted in large print format. She has also published three books in educational technology and one children’s book. In 2008, she was selected to be included in the Contemporary Authors Series by Thompson-Gale.

The Hill Country Book Festival, Inc., organized in 2007 as a 501(c)3 non-profit agency, offers ways and means of enhancing the writing skills of local authors, raises levels of literacy in Central Texas and provides an affordable venue for writers to showcase their works. The organization is non-political and non-religious by its legal definition. HCBF works with local public and school libraries to supplement their reading and writing programs.

Lynn Whitson, secretary of the Hill Country Book Festival, Inc., served as co-ordinator of the Grades 9-12 Writing Competition for the 2009 Hill Country Book Festival for Children and Youth. She graduated from high school in Odessa, TX and went on to receive a B.A. degree in literature with a minor in music from the University of Texas - Permian Basin, Odessa, followed by an M.A. degree in Literature with a minor in Early American History from the same college.
Lynn served as as English Instructor and Assistant Professor of English at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas before retiring in 2005 and moving to Georgetown.
