Mission:
The mission of the Hill Country Book Festival @ Georgetown (HCBF) is to improve literacy for successful communication in a developing global community.

Roger Busfield received his BA and MA degrees from Southwestern University as well as a Ph.D from Florida State University.  He taught dramatic writing for six years at Michigan State University as well as at Florida State.  He is the author of The Playwright’s Art: Stage, Screen, Radio and Television. As well, Roger served at president of San Gabriel Writers’ League for two terms.

Addie Busfield is an artist, writer, editor and illustrator.  She is a graduate of Southwestern and has been active in SGWL, serving as program director for two years.

Karen Swensson, treasurer of the Hill Country Book Festival @ Georgetown,  has eighteen years' experience as an administrative manager in both the securities and consulting industries. Her previous experience includes radio, television and print advertising. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and an MBA from the University of Chicago. A Midwesterner by birth, Karen has also lived in the western and eastern United States, Germany, and Zaire.

Two of her short stories have been published in anthologies. She is a member of the San Gabriel Writers' League and the Writers' League of Texas, and has lived in the Georgetown area since 2006.

Ann Bell, President of the Hill Country Book Festival @Georgetown moved to Georgetown, Texas in 2007. She grew up in Iowa and received her B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa, a Library Media Endorsement from the University of Montana, and a Master of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of Hawaii. She has served 20 years as a high school librarian in Iowa, Montana, and Guam and is currently an online instructor and course developer for the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Ann has published 11 inspirational novels through Heartsong Present and Barbour Press. Eight of these have been reprinted in large print format. She has also published three books in educational technology, one historical novel, and one children’s book. In 2008, she was selected to be included in the Contemporary Authors Series by Thompson-Gale.

Denice Cribb, Secretary of the Hill Country Book Festival (HCBF), moved to Georgetown in 2008 and joined the HCBF in 2011.  Denice has a BS from Troy University and a MS in Management from Florida Institute of Technology. She retired from the federal government where she held jobs in procurement, business processes and public relations.  Denice keeps busy with her book clubs, card group and travel opportunities. 

Phyllis Moses, President -Emeritus of the Hill Country Book Festival @ Georgetown has had a varied business and volunteer experience. After 30 years in the business world, her interests led her to be the Executive Director of the Dallas office of the National Kidney Foundation, for several years. Since then, she has become an active published author with many articles on aviation and aviation history. See www.wingsandstars.com.

Since moving to Georgetown, she has become interested in helping to produce quality book festivals in Central Texas. She lives with her husband, Brian, in Sun City and is deeply involved in the community they have come to love so much. Phyllis says, “My life is full of blessings, one of which is to work with the incredible volunteer board of HCBF in bringing quality writers and presenters to Georgetown for our festival to benefit the residents of this area.”

Artie Stockton, Vice President of the Hill Country Book Festival @ Georgetown, is author of many business publications, including The Secretary Grid: A Program for Increasing Program Synergy, which was translated into eight languages. She also developed training and development curriculum, served as McGraw-Hill liaison in her role as publications director at a private firm, and later honed her skills in publicity and marketing. She served as publicity chairperson for the Hill Country Book Festival, Inc. 2009-2010.
